call off, Held up.. రెంటికీ ఒకే అర్థమా?

call off,  Held up.. ఈ వ్యక్తీకరణలను వినేవుంటారు. వీటి అర్థం తెలుసా? వీటిని వాక్యాల్లో ప్రయోగించటం ఎలాగో ఉదాహరణల ద్వారా తెలుసుకుందాం.
Sekhar: The hooligans disturbed the meeting the president and the others were holding.  They started throwing stones at the meeting, and the meeting was called off.  The president could not do anything. (ఆ అధ్యక్షుడు, ఇతరులు పెడుతున్న సభను ఆ రౌడీలు ఆపేశారు. వాళ్ళు ఆ సభ మీద రాళ్ళు రువ్వి ఆ సభను జరగనీయకుండా చేశారు. అధ్యక్షుడు ఏమీ చేయలేకపోయాడు)
Mohan: I done-t know why the rowdies disturbed the meeting and why the president and the other office bearers had to cancel the meeting.  (నాకు తెలీటంలేదు, ఎందుకు ఆ రౌడీలు ఆ సభను ఆపేశారో. అధ్యక్షుడు, ఇతరులు, ఆ సభను ఆపేయాల్సివచ్చిందో)
Sekhar: They should have called the police and threatened the hooligans (ఆ సభ నిర్వాహకులు పోలీసులను పిలిచి ఆ రౌడీలను భయపెట్టి ఉండాల్సింది.)
Mohan: The office bearers had to call off the meeting because the hooligans threw stones at the meeting and the president and office bearers could not do anything.  They should have called the police and should have arrested the rowdie (సభ నిర్వాహకులు రాళ్ళు రువ్వటం వల్ల ఆ అధ్యక్షుడు, ఇతరులు ఏమీ చేయలేకపోయారు. వాళ్ళు పోలీసులను పిలిచి ఆ రౌడీ మూకను ఖైదు చేయించి ఉండాల్సింది)
Sekhar: They had to call off the meeting and they did not call the police. The rowdies did not allow the meeting to progress. (అధ్యక్షుడు, ఇతరులు సభను రద్దు చేశారు. పోలీసులను పిలవాల్సింది. ఆ రౌడీలు సభకు అడ్డు పడ్డారు)
Mohan: the rowdies held up the meeting and did not allow the meeting to progress. ( ఆ రౌడీలు స‌భ‌ను ఆపేసీ, ఆది కొన‌సాగ‌కుండా చేశారు )

Sekhar:  They should have called the police and should have arrested the rowdies.(వాళ్ళు పోలీసులను పిలిచి ఆ రౌడీలను ఖైదు చేసి ఉండాల్సింది.)
-Notes: 1) Hooligans =  రౌడీలు.
2) Threatened = gave signs of warning (బెదిరింపులు చేయటం)
