Russia successfully launched the Angara-A5 rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome on 11 April 2024. The Angara-A5 is a heavy-lift rocket designed to carry payloads exceeding 20 tonnes into orbit, roared into the sky. The Angara family of rockets, developed to replace the Soviet-designed Proton rockets.

Lindy Cameron was appointed as British High Commissioner to India on 11 April 2024. She replaced Alex Ellis. Lindy is the first woman to serve in this role since Britain and independent India established diplomatic relations in 1947.

The US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) appointed Tarun Bajaj (61) as the head of the US-India Tax Forum. He is the former Revenue Secretary and ex-secretary of Economic Affairs.
HDFC Bank inaugurated a branch in Lakshadweep's Kavaratti island. It became the first private sector lender to have a branch in the Lakshadweep. HDFC Bank has branches in the cold climes of Kashmir, the southern tip of Kanyakumari and now the island of Lakshadweep.

The International Day of Human Space Flight is observed every year on April 12.
