మెప్పించే ఎస్‌ఓపీ

మనదేశంలోని ప్రసిద్ధ విద్యాసంస్థల్లో, విదేశాల్లో ఉన్నతవిద్య చదవాలనుకునేవారు స్టేట్‌మెంట్‌ ఆఫ్‌ పర్పస్‌(ఎస్‌ఓపీ) ను రాయటం తప్పనిసరి. ఇది విద్యార్థి తన కెరియర్‌ ప్రణాళిక, లక్ష్యాల గురించి సమర్పించే కీలక పత్రం. దీని ప్రాధాన్యం దృష్ట్యా మెరుగైనరీతిలో దీన్ని రాయటానికి ప్రయత్నించాలి!
ఎస్‌ఓపీ అనేది విద్యార్థి వ్యక్తిత్వాన్ని చాటే, ఉన్నత లక్ష్యాలను తెలిపే విశేషాంశాల సమాహారం. నిజాయతీ దీనికి ప్రాణం. అతడిలో ఉన్న చురుకుదనం, జ్ఞానతృష్ణలను ప్రస్ఫుటంగా తెలిపేలా ఉండాలి. ఇది దరఖాస్తులో ఒక భాగం మాత్రమే. అడ్మిషన్‌ కమిటీతో నేరుగా సంభాషించేందుకు ఎస్‌ఓపీ ఒక అవకాశమని గుర్తుంచుకోవాలి. వివిధ కోర్సులూ, గ్రేడ్లూ, టెస్ట్‌ స్కోర్లూ, ఇతర గణాంకాల ద్వారా కాకుండా కమిటీకి విద్యార్థిని ఒక వ్యక్తిగా సన్నిహితం చేసేందుకు సాయపడుతుంది.
* ఎస్‌ఓపీ రాసేముందు విద్యార్థికి తన గురించి తనకు పూర్తి అవగాహన ఉండాలి. కళాశాల అడ్మిషన్‌ సిబ్బంది విద్యార్థి రాసే వ్యాసం ద్వారా అతడి గురించి అంచనాకు వస్తారు. అందుకే తన జీవితం చుట్టూ ఆసక్తికరమైన కథను అల్లటానికి ప్రయత్నించాలి.
* ఇప్పటికే అరిగిపోయివున్న ఆలోచనలను ఉపయోగించటం మానెయ్యాలి. అందుకని వ్యక్తిగత అనుభవాలను పంచుకోవటానికి ప్రయత్నించాలి. విజయాలూ, చేసిన మంచి పనులూ, స్ఫూర్తిదాయకమైన అంశాలూ ఉండేలా చూసుకోవాలి.
* రచనా శైలి ద్వారా మెప్పించటం మంచిదే. కానీ గిమిక్కులు చేయకూడదు. సహజంగా, కొంత స్వేచ్ఛగా, సొంత అనిపించే రీతిలో వాక్యనిర్మాణం చేయటానికి ప్రయత్నించాలి.
* భాషాపరంగా మరీ నిర్లక్ష్యంగా కనిపించే పొరపాట్లు చేయకూడదు. వ్యాకరణపరంగా కూడా పెద్ద దోషాలు దొర్లకుండా జాగ్రత్తపడాలి. ఇలాంటివి విద్యార్థిపై మంచి అభిప్రాయం కలగనీయవు.
* రాసిన ఎస్‌ఓపీ ఎలా ఉందో తెలిసిన అధ్యాపకులకు చూపించవచ్చు. వారి అభిప్రాయాలమేరకు అవసరమైతే సవరించటం మంచిది. మెరుగైన ప్రతి వచ్చేవరకూ కృషిచేయాల్సిందే. అంతేకానీ తొందరపాటుతో ఏదిపడితే అది రాసి పంపించకూడదు.
* meaningful, beautiful, challenging, rewardingమొదలైన పదబంధాలు అస్పష్టమైనవి. ఇవి ఎక్కువగా అందరూ వాడేవి కాబట్టి వాటిని ఉపయోగించకపోవటం మంచిది.
* మరీ సాధారణమైన, నిర్దిష్టత లేని పదబంధాలు వదిలెయ్యాలి. ఉదాహరణకు... ''My above qualifications and my placement in the top 10th of my class demonstrate that I have the leadership, organization and academic ability to succeed well at your school.'' ఇలాంటి సాధారణమైన ప్రకటనలు విద్యార్థి గురించి ఏమీ చెప్పలేవు. ఏది రాసినా అది మరో వంద మంది రాసేదానిలాగా ఉండకూడదని గుర్తించాలి. మీకే సొంతమైన వ్యక్తిగత అనుభవాల కథనం మీ ఎస్‌ఓపీని విభిన్నంగా ఉంచుతుంది.
* ఎవరు చదువుతారో కచ్చితంగా తెలియదు కాబట్టి హాస్యస్ఫోరకంగా రాయకపోవటం మేలు. ఒక్కోసారి అది వికటించే ప్రమాదం ఉంది.
* ప్రత్యేక ఫాంట్లు, రంగుల పేపర్లు ఉపయోగించకూడదు.
* పొడవైన కొటేషన్లు, సాంకేతిక పదజాలం, అసభ్యత ధ్వనించే పదాలను వాడకూడదు.
* గర్వం, అతి విశ్వాసం ప్రతిఫలించేలా రాయకూడదు. దానికంటే మీ ప్రతిభపై మీకు ఆత్మవిశ్వాసం ఉందనీ, అయినా నేర్చుకోవటంపై ఆసక్తి ఉందనీ రాయవచ్చు.

Statement of Purpose
My memories of my childhood are those of trying to dismantle every toy automobile that I got access to, sometimes ones which weren't mine! 9 out of 10 times I couldn't put the pieces back together and my dad eventually had to put everything together to get them working again. I clearly remember that I never found my dad angry or irritated with me because of my destructive curiosity, and in fact he always got me new things to take apart. It is in fact my dad who got me into the habit of 'finding out by dismantling', just to know how things work. Many toys and years later, I became good at securing good knowledge of how machines work, be it cars, bikes, a computer, and now mobiles. I realized over the last few years that I was more interested in machines, finding out how industry and industrial functions are conducted, discovering how so many products are manufactured that cater to the innumerable and varied needs of consumers. Mechanical Engineering for me has always been close to my heart and hence is the obvious choice of career for me. I see myself making a name for myself and achieving significant things as a resource.
I belong to Kadapa a city in Andhra Pradesh. My region is popular for its valuable mineral resources and rock paintings. My family firmly believes in ethical values, My father is a (Businessman), and my mother is a (Homemaker). Both are strong pillars of my life and gave me whatever I have today. Their support and affection gave me courage to take firm decisions in my life. My siblings too have been of great support, encouragement, and motivation. I completed my schooling from Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh but from diverse schools. From 9th standard till 12th I got admission in one of the premier schools in Kadapa. I cleared my high school in flying colours with 'A' Grade in my Intermediate (+2) in the 2017 and GPA 8.5 in SSC standard in 2015. I am a sportsman and like to engulf my free time in sports like table tennis, swimming, and bowling. I also love to involve myself in social causes for the benefit of the society.
I dream to pursue my higher education from a deemed international institution as I want to gain the best of the possible exposure. Attaining international exposure will not only broaden my horizons but I would be get a much wider platform to display my skills and personality. I am excited about the opportunity to study in the USA in the California State University Los Angeles for Mechanical Engineering , I have a keen interest in studying in the USA because it is the largest, strongest, and most prosperous economy in the world. I am interested in pursuing my mechanical engineering in this diversified nation as, apart from being 'the land of opportunities', the US education system is valued worldwide. Most of the world's top universities are present here and the country is known for its education system which has the best infrastructure, teachers, teaching methods, peer student groups, and and education system which has the industry totally involved in. As per World University Rankings, more than 40 universities from top 100 are present in the US, not to mention the top 6 of the top 10 universities in the world are in USA today. It has over 4500 universities and colleges that facilitate several world class educational programs. There are both public and private universities which are highly recognized in the USA. The kind of exposure and learning experience which I will get in USA is better than that I would get in any other part of the world.
I believe that California State University Los Angeles is the best place for me to continue my academic career. The excellent research facilities and the courses offered in my field in your university are comparable to the best in my field, and since I have a desire to do extensive research in my field of study and come up with an indigenous product myself, I have chosen your University as my destination for my Masters. The confluence of people from varied cultures, nationalities, religions, races and ideologies will make me a complete person as well. I am sure that my exposure to these kinds of diverse influences would result in the overall development of my personality and help me broaden my outlook towards my profession and career. I look forward to a quick and positive response to my application from you.
After completion of my course, I wish to return to my country and to my family, secure a lucrative job in leading national and multi national companies in my country, and contribute to my country and economy which is competing with leading economies in the world. A few year down the line, I would set up my own business and put all my learnings to the best and most productive use.
