According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), India was the fourth-largest military spender in the world in 2023. It spent $83.6 billion to modernize various weapons and combat systems.

Professor Naima Khatoon was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on 22 April 2024. Khatoon is the first woman to be appointed to the post in the varsity's 123-year history.
