తృప్తికరంగా ఉండే.. Make the grade

ఏదైనా పనిని అనుకున్న స్థాయిలో చేయలేకపోతే సంతృప్తికరంగా లేదు అంటుంటారు కదా! మరి దాన్ని ఇంగ్లిష్‌లో ఏమంటారు? తెలుసుకుందామా! ఆ వ్యక్తీకరణనూ, దాన్ని సంభాషణల్లో ఎలా ఉపయోగించాలో కూడా నేర్చుకుందాం.

Bhima Rao: I am sorry, but your work is below standard. It does not, I am afraid, make the grade. Your work is quite clumsy, and is below the level of satisfaction

(సారీ, నేను చెప్పడానికి చింతిస్తున్నాను కానీ, మీరు చేసిన పని ఆశించదగ్గ స్థాయిలో లేదు. మీరు చేసిన పని ప్రమాణాలకు తక్కువగా ఉంది. కొంత గందరగోళంగా, అసంతృప్తికరంగా ఉంది). 
Surendra: I am sorry, but I don’t know what you are talking about. I tried my best to do it, but I have not been able to. I know my work is below the level of your satisfaction. In spite of my best attempts, I have not been able to do well. I have been unable to make out what I should do 

(నేనూ చింతిస్తున్నాను. నా శక్తిమేరకు ప్రయత్నం చేశాను. కానీ దానిని సరిగ్గా చేయలేకపోయాను. నాకే తెలుసు మీకంత సంతృప్తికరంగా నా పని లేదని. నా శక్తి మేరకు ప్రయత్నించినా సరిగా చేయలేకపోయాను. నేనేం చేయాలో నాకు అర్థం కావడం లేదు). 
Bhima Rao: I know you tried your best, but it is not up to the level of satisfaction. It is below the standard

(నాకు తెలుసు, మీ శక్తిమేరకు కృషి చేశారని. అయినా అది అంత సంతృప్తికరంగా లేదు. ఇది మన ప్రమాణాలకు తగ్గ స్థాయిలో లేదు). 
Surendra: In spite of my best efforts, things have fallen apart. I could not come up with any fresh idea

(నా శక్తి మేరకు ప్రయత్నించినప్పటికీ అది ముక్కలు ముక్కలైంది. నాకు కొత్త ఆలోచనలు రావడం లేదు). 
Bhima Rao: You could have consulted me. I could have shown you the way to do it in the best possible manner. Anyway, past is past. At least from now on when you try to do something, please consult me. I can show you the way (మీరు నన్ను సంప్రదించి ఉండాల్సింది. అప్పుడు నేను ఇంకోవిధంగా ఎలా ప్రయత్నించవచ్చో చెప్పి ఉండేవాడిని. ఏదేమైనా ఇప్పుడు గతం తవ్వుకోవడం వృథా. ఇప్పటికైనా ఏదైనా ప్రయత్నించేటపుడు నన్ను సంప్రదించండి. నేను మీకు దారి చూపగలను). 
Surendra: I will, certainly. I will take your guidance from the next time onwards. I will not let things fall apart from the next time onwards (తప్పకుండా అలాగే చేస్తాను. ఈసారి మీ మార్గదర్శకత్వం తీసుకుంటాను. వచ్చేసారి నుంచి వస్తువులు ముక్కలు ముక్కలు కాకుండా చేస్తాను). 
Bhima Rao: make it snappy at least now. There is not much time left. I will tell you how to do it (ఇప్పటినుంచైనా త్వరగా అయ్యేలా చూడండి. మనకు అంతగా సమయం లేదు. అది ఎలా చేయాలో నేను మీకు చెప్తాను). 
Surendra: certainly, I will follow you (తప్పకుండా, మీరు చెప్పినట్టే చేస్తాను).

Now look at the following sentences from the conversation:

1. It does not, I am afraid, make the grade. 
Make the grade = Satisfactory (తృప్తికరంగా ఉండటం). 
Vishnu: I am sorry to say this, but his work is not up to the level (నేను ఇది చెప్పడానికి చింతిస్తున్నాను. కానీ, అతని పని అంత సంతృప్తికరంగా లేదు). 
Jayanth: So do I feel too. His work does not seem to make the grade. He still has to learn how to do things better (నాకు కూడా అదే అనిపిస్తోంది. అతని పని అంత సంతృప్తికరంగా లేదు. ఎలా మెరుగ్గా చేయాలో అతను ఇంకా నేర్చుకోవాలి). 
2. In spite of my best efforts, things have fallen apart. 
To fall apart = Break into pieces (ముక్కలు, ముక్కలు అయిపోవడం). 
Hanuman: He is very clumsy. He cannot do anything properly (అతను చాలా గందరగోళం చేస్తాడు. దేన్నీ సరిగా చేయలేడు). 
Subbarao: You mean, Krishna. He is always like that. I will not let things fall apart from the next time onwards (నువ్వు చెప్పేది కృష్ణ గురించా? అతనెప్పుడూ అంతే. ఈసారి నుంచి వస్తువులు ముక్కలు ముక్కలు కానివ్వను).
