4 days of work for a week is fine. It will be good on paper but we need to see it while it gets implemented. And company HRs also may play a tricky step here as, instead of paying 30 days a month, they may opt for weekly payments of 4 days. That comes to 16 days of payment in a month. Because they may say, effectively you are working for 16 days in a month and 15 days you are free/doing your personal work and being earned. So why we need to pay 30 days? And it will be bad for the people who cannot find any other work for the rest 14 days of a month.

Yes, It will be good if it is 4 days for the week. So that people can spend enough time with family and can do their personal work on the 5th day. Right now many IT company employees are working 12 to 16 hrs hours per day unofficially, going forward they will work this 12 to 16 hours officially and also they can have some relaxation on weekends.

I strongly support 4 days work in a week. But it is purely based on project and work balance. Ex: it should be fixed on a particular day for example, if two members in project go for Wednesday holiday and the other 2 on Friday or other day. Most importantly, when we have more work, we work for 10hours. but when there is no work managers does not allow workers to leave early. They talk about compulsory working hours. This rule should be changed. because, we get never paid of out extra working /extra efforts.

I currently work in IT firm and I work 5 days a week. I am reading the comments below to see the view of other people. I was impressed by the comment made by M Atchim Naidu stating seasonal holidays instead of 4 days of work. To extend the 4 day work mathematically, it will give an additional 52 days of holidays for an employee in a year. Instead of that lets have a 15 days of continuous fixed work off for every 6 months. For ex: Jan 1 to June 15 work for 5 days, June 16 to June 30 Time off, July 1 to Dec 15 work for 5 days, Dec 16 to Dec 31 Time off. Because we cannot plan for vacations in 3 off days, so this might strike a balance.

In my opinion, a four-day workweek is not suitable for the government sector, but it is somewhat acceptable in the private sector. If we implement this culture in the private sector, it will likely increase productivity, reduce work pressure, and significantly enhance work-life balance. If 4 working days are there, then employees will get free time and relaxation. At present scenario employees require some time for personal health and family health purpose and to improve the productivity in office and home, employee has to spend minimum time with family which is more than 2 days full time with family. Laws to be implemented equally in all sectors. In Non IT sector like manufacturing and power generation sectors, employees are working for 6 days in week, more than 10 hrs per day.

Four days working is not at all good. Actually in India, we have 6 working days culture is there. After the IT boom, 5 days of working is popularized. Employees got 2 days to relax and spend some time on learning. Four days a week will increase pressure on employees to achieve targets and won't get time to communicate with clients.

It is a very good initiative. It gives us a work-life balance. Usually in IT we work based on target dates rather than working days. So, if there are 4 working days in a week, the employee gets the flexibility whether he can use that 5th day as working or non-working based on his targets and when there is not much to deliver or critical to deliver, he can avail that for family. It improves the employer caring on employee and employee to his family and friends or personal life.

It is not at all good for our country at least now. Put the barrier with age wise. It is not good to consider those who are younger, count only when the person is nearing retirement. It may be applicable to them. If you eleborate this so much things will come out which is beneficial for the country not to see you as an individual. People don't have a work culture in our country. You must improve this first then we go to think other benefits unless it waste of thinking.

I am from IT industry. So, let me speak. Already people start working only 2 to 3 hrs late on Monday. and stop working from mid Friday. These 5 hrs aso they dont work properly in product based organizations. Consulting is still fine. India used to very cost effective country. now, our per day price is equal to few of the European or LA countries. To keep the business and productivity gain, we have to be very efficient and delivery focus. I would say, we need 5 days a week and alternative weeks 6 days. Thanks
